Job Summary: As a Data Abstractor I, your main responsibility will be to extract data related to complex core measures, trauma, VON, complex cardiovascular services, and/or infectious diseases. Responsibilities: - Complete the data abstraction process for assigned facilities, including entering cases into specified systems like COMET, TheraDoc, Digital Innovations, NHSN, etc. - Review medical records to extract information in accordance with the standards set by various regulatory and accreditation agencies such as CMS, TJC, NHSN, etc. - Ensure timely abstraction to meet compliance standards. - Perform edit checks and make necessary adjustments promptly. - Follow guidelines and instructions from CSG/Parallon to abstract all reportable cases accurately. - Assist in case follow-up as needed. - Attend approved educational activities to enhance skills and knowledge. - Stay updated on clinical knowledge related to abstracted measures. - Maintain regular communication with managers to ensure compliance with measures. - Submit data promptly through designated reporting systems. - Resolve any errors leading to record rejections from the data entry system. Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required. - Completion of an undergraduate (Associate or Bachelor) degree or successful completion of a certified coding program preferred. - Preferably 1 year of experience in Health Information Management, Coding, or Health Registry abstraction. - Preferred certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CSS, LVN, or RN. - Strongly preferred experience in Trauma Abstracting (Level I or II).
