**Key Responsibilities:** - Actively engage in state and federal levels to advocate for and uphold equitable energy policies supporting residential solar and energy storage, particularly aimed at aiding low- and moderate-income households. Specific focus areas and states supported by the Policy Associate will vary based on experience and location. - Monitor and assess proposed legislation, utility tariffs, resources, reports, and utility commission filings to identify opportunities and challenges for PosiGen. - Contribute to the development of legislation, policy proposals, formal comments, and strategies aligning with PosiGen's public policy objectives. - Cultivate relationships with community groups, environmental nonprofits, policymakers, trade associations, and utility stakeholders. - Participate in trade association working groups and committee meetings, actively contributing to the preparation, review, and feedback on trade association deliverables. - Identify and communicate changes to state energy policies or program requirements to relevant internal departments, offering guidance and assistance in understanding and adhering to legal, regulatory, or program compliance standards, in coordination with the VP of Compliance. - Act as a subject matter expert on net metering, state incentive programs, interconnection, and other state policies, aiding internal teams in resolving challenges with utilities, program administrators, or local jurisdictions. - Collaborate with the Products & Pricing team concerning utility rate adjustments, modeling the impact of various federal and state incentives, and understanding alterations to net metering structures. - Liaise with state energy offices, local governments, or program administrators in states where PosiGen participates in low- and moderate-income solar initiatives. - Deliver concise written updates on active policy matters for inclusion in periodic Public Policy reports or memos. **Qualifications & Skills:** - Strong ethical principles and personal integrity. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. - A collaborative team player with the capacity to work independently, taking initiative to identify opportunities or challenges and strategizing to support PosiGen's public policy objectives. - Understanding of federal, state, or local political structures and processes, state energy policies (particularly in distributed solar), and utility regulatory landscapes. - Proficiency in understanding and summarizing legislation, program documents, or filings at public utility commissions. - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities in both public and internal contexts. - Capability to develop resource materials such as data sheets, one-pagers, presentations, and memos to convey complex information accurately and understandably to various audiences. - Comfortable operating and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative analyses. - Willingness to travel as needed to PosiGen markets or potential markets, including Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Washington D.C., Mississippi, New York, and West Virginia. - Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic. - Proficient in Google Workspace products and services. **Education/Experience:** - Bachelor's degree preferred, with an advanced degree considered advantageous. - Minimum of 2 years of experience in the residential solar industry, an energy-related field, or government. Additional experience is beneficial. - Knowledge and/or experience with the political and energy regulatory dynamics of PosiGen's state(s) preferred. - Understanding and ability to interpret local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and legislation, particularly related to residential solar, preferred.
