Our grassroots movement is powered by passionate individuals who believe that safe and affordable housing is a fundamental right for every American.We are now expanding our volunteer team and looking for talented, driven, and passionate individuals to help us tell America's housing story — through powerful journalism, compelling photography, impactful writing, and strong advocacy.ABOUT THE ROLEWe are looking for dedicated volunteers who are passionate about social justice and want to make a real difference. As a volunteer at HousingInAmerica.org, you will contribute your skills to raise awareness, educate communities, and amplify the voices of millions of Americans affected by the housing crisis.We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer roles:📰 1. Journalist / Investigative ReporterResearch and report on housing-related news, policies, and issues across the USAConduct interviews with homeowners, renters, housing experts, and advocatesWrite factual, compelling news articles and investigative pieces for the platformStay up to date with local and national housing legislation and reform📷 2. Photographer / Visual StorytellerCapture powerful images that reflect the reality of housing challenges in AmericaCreate visual content for campaigns, social media, newsletters, and the websiteEdit and submit high-quality photos that align with the organization's missionSupport virtual events and advocacy campaigns with creative visual assets✍️ 3. Content Writer / Blog EditorWrite engaging blog posts, articles, and educational content on housing topicsResearch and simplify complex housing policies for general audiencesEdit and proofread content for clarity, accuracy, and toneContribute to newsletters, outreach emails, and awareness campaigns✊ 4. Advocacy & Petition CoordinatorCreate, manage, and promote housing-related petitions on the platformRecruit petition signers through social media, community groups, and outreach campaignsEngage with participants and supporters to grow the petition movement nationallyDraft compelling advocacy messages, calls to action, and campaign contentMonitor petition progress and report results to the core teamCollaborate with community members and housing advocates to push for real policy changeAssist in organizing and promoting online advocacy events such as webinars and virtual town hallsREQUIREMENTSGenuine passion for housing rights, social justice, and community advocacyStrong communication skills in English (written and/or visual)Ability to work independently and meet deadlines remotelyReliable internet connection and availability for occasional team check-insPortfolio, samples, or any previous work is a plus (but not mandatory)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBilingual or multilingual proficiency (Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, or other languages is a strong advantage)Prior background in community organizing, nonprofit work, activism, or advocacy campaignsBasic experience in content creation, graphic design, or digital marketingWHAT YOU WILL RECEIVEWe deeply value our volunteers.
